Lovin' DC

Despite really missing my friends and the fact that I can't walk ANYWHERE, unlike our wonderful location in San Mateo, I (and the rest of the family) am really starting to fall in love with living in the DC area. Last Saturday we were blessed with a wonderful visitor from SF, Elizabeth, and we all went to the Museum of Natural History. The kids loved it, especially the dinosaur exhibit and the special orchid exhibit. Monday brought a snowstorm our way. Although nothing like a snowstorm I would have experienced growing up in PA, Eliana and Benji thought this was totally awesome and Ellie shot out of bed shouting "YEAH, now we can use our new sleds!!!!" And that is exactly what we did! Tuesday, our friends Kayla and Mary arrived for a visit and they enjoyed the snow too. It was the first time Kayla had ever seen snow and the first time sledding for both of them. Thursday we hit the National Zoo where we were amazed by the Giant Panda and the roaring Lion (which of course I did not get on video - boo). By today (Friday) the snow is gone and the temperature has gone up to around 70. We went into DC and saw Barrack's new digs and several of the monuments. The kids all had a blast chasing geese around in front of the Washington Monument and then we all took a beautiful walk along the river and enjoyed the view of the Jefferson Memorial. I know the transition has been tough and isn't over yet, but we are really trying to make the best of it!
